Behind the Scenes

March 6, 2019

Our busy Parts Hub covers a vast range of makes and models, distributed throughout the UK and supplied to both private and trade customers.  Our highly trained parts staff work tirelessly to ensure our customers receive the highest care when it comes to parts, warranty or technical enquiries.  We spoke to David Smith, Parts Warehouse & Logistics Manager, to find out more about his role at the busy Hub.

Hi David, how long have you been working with the company?

I’ve been working with the company for 7 years this July.  I joined the company as a parts advisor and was promoted to Parts Warehouse & Logistics Manager around 2 and a half years ago.  I oversee the running of our Parts Hub department and manage a great team of dedicated staff.

So, what does a normal day look like in Parts Hub?

The department is always busy.  Mornings are our busiest part of the day with bulk deliveries arriving at our Hub.  We then organise the parts, which cover a massive range of models, and allocate them to the relevant customers.  Our van drivers then distribute these across the country.

What type of customer do you supply to?

We supply stock to businesses with a fleet of vehicles, leasing companies, garages, taxi drivers and our customers who own wheelchair accessible vehicles.  We also provide direct to Peugeot/ Citroen customers as an authorised distributor.

What services do you provide?

Our internal services are at our Bodyshop and workshop, which we supply the parts for them to carry out their services to our customers.  We also supply a large stock of parts to our busy production department, who produce our minibuses and special purpose vehicles. Our other service is the distribution of parts to our external customers.

What are the biggest challenges you face in your role?

It’s a very fast-paced environment so it’s important to always stay focused to ensure organisation of distribution.  There’s a great team of us to ensure things run smoothly and on time.

And finally, what do you enjoy most in your role?

No two days are the same. I’m very proactive and like that I’m kept busy on my feet. I most enjoy the variance of the job.
