Top Selling Vans of 2019

February 20, 2020

Ford minibuses are a popular choice for Allied Fleet customers and Ford vans are still topping the sales charts for 2019 according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) and The Van Insurer who have recently released their figures.  The table below shows the top-selling vans of 2019 which was a successful year with an increase of 2.4% in van sales.  In fact, 2019 saw the most vans being registered since they started recording them.

Diesel vans remain a popular choice for those who travel any distance and many manufacturers have upgraded to the Euro 6 compliant engines to reduce emissions and subsequently road tax.

There’s no change in the top three vans since 2018, as you can see below, with the Ford Transit, Vauxhall Vivaro and the Ford Transit Connect retaining the top spots.

The Van Insurer

The Van Insurer, a price comparison company, was pleased to have processed 7% more van quotes in 2019 than the previous year.  Ed Bevis, Marketing Manager at The Van Insurer, is pleased the latest ranking figures replicate the increase in quotes they’ve experienced. He said: “Here at The Van Insurer, we’ve enjoyed a bumper year for insurance quotes, which shows huge market appetite.”

Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT)

The UK trade association, SMMT reported a rise in van sales of over 7% in December. They’ve attributed the market increase to the regulatory changes and the fact there are so many great models on the market. The only reported a decrease in sales of pickup trucks. Chief Executive, Mike Hawes, stated that “A healthy van market is good news for the industry, environment and exchequer and so the rise in 2019 registrations is very welcome.”
