As the number of older people in our population continues to rise exponentially, the healthcare sector is growing and adapting to meet demand. With more than 20,000 registered care homes across the UK, residential care services play a huge part in addressing the needs of later life.
Living in a care home or sheltered housing doesn’t have to mean life in one place. Increasingly social care providers are facilitating interaction with the surrounding community. Whether it’s journeys for essential medical appointments or an outing to a local place of interest, care home operators are increasingly seeking to offer transport opportunities as part of their overall care package.
For many operators, flexibility is key – one trip might be with a wheelchair user, the next with several able-bodied residents. Allied’s accessible vehicles are carefully designed to provide comfortable transport solutions which address the needs of both disabled and able-bodied users. We offer the widest range of accessible cars, people carriers, minibuses and patient transport vehicles available in the UK.
Our lightweight minibus, Flexilite™, maximises carrying capacity without having to incur the added expense of putting drivers through D1 category licence training*. This innovative minibus has room for up to 17 seats and four wheelchairs so there’s plenty of space for all residents to enjoy day trips or attend appointments.
Our minibuses and all other vehicles are available to buy, lease or hire, providing short and long term options to work around the needs of your business. We work with leading lease companies to offer competitive minibus leasing prices to our care home customers.
*Drivers must have held a full driving licence for two years. The vehicle should not be used for hire or reward and the operator should hold a section 19 permit.
